Lord, I know the plans You have for me, plans to prosper me and not to harm me, plans to give me hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11
I have learned that having faith that something will happen must be tempered with absolute trust in God; so that if this thing you really want to happen doesn’t happen, you still know that God loves you and that His plan is better than yours. There is something that I really want right now and I believe that God gives me the desires of my heart and that this desire is most likely from God. However I still have to trust that God’s plan for my life is best whether I get it or not. As it says in Proverbs, “We make our plans, but God orders our steps.” If I truly know that God has good plans for my life, then I must trust His plan even when I don’t understand it or know what the end result will be.
If I have absolute trust in God than I will not be disappointed when I don’t get what I want, because I know that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. I know that God has wonderful plans for my life and that as I delight myself in Him, He gives me the desires of my heart. I know that as I seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, all good things will be added to me. I know that every good and perfect gift comes from God, and He adds no sorrow with it.
I should never fear not getting something I want, because perfect love casts out all fear and God loves me perfectly. He sees all and knows all. I know that God is good and that He loves me and lavishes all manner of blessing, love and grace upon me. Therefore instead of being disappointed when something doesn’t go the way I want it to, I must know that God has something even better for me that I don’t know about yet, or that He has just the right time for everything to come together perfectly, and this is not it.
Trusting God completely means not being anxious about anything, but having absolute faith in Him in all situations, knowing that He always has the very best for me. If it is His will, it will be done; and if it isn’t done, than it is not His will at this time, and I must trust that He knows best. God is good all the time. Releasing something to God and putting it in His hands means truly trusting that His will be done and hoping that my will coincides with His, but knowing that if it doesn’t, His will is always better than mine.
More than anything I ever want, I want God’s will to be done in my life. I know that He is always faithful and that I can trust Him fully in every situation. I can only see as far as I am, but God can see everything and He has it all worked out. Trusting Him allows me to have faith that whatever happens will work out for my good and His glory. Trusting Him allows me to be at peace about everything in my life. Trusting Him gives me hope in every situation and lets me know that I have a bright, beautiful future ahead of me. I look forward with great joy to all God will do in my life, and I thank Him for the many blessings He gives me each and every day.
“In You, Lord my God, I put my trust.” Psalm 25:1
