There have been times in my walk with God that I have seen no way that God could make things right, only to experience once again His amazing powers of working everything out for my good and His glory. As I recognize this it becomes easier and easier to realize that God has a plan in everything, and that even when the situation looks bad, God will still work it out for good. I have no need to fear or to be anxious about anything as God is faithful all the time. It is very important to remember all of the wonderful things God does for us and has done for us, both big and small.
God did many miraculous things for the Israelites, like parting the red sea so they could walk through it and bringing water out of a rock and manna from heaven, just to mention a few. Although He showed up in their lives in absolutely miraculous ways, they kept forgetting about Him. Unfortunately, we as humans have a tendency to do the same thing. God can show up in a miraculous way in our lives one day, and the next day we’re agonizing or worrying over another situation wondering what we are going to do. It’s really silly when you look back at all God has done and all God has saved us out of, to worry about anything at all. However, living with the day to day issues of life, we continuously get caught up in our immediate problems and struggles, many times seeing no way out. Thank God, He is still faithful, and when we turn to Him He always makes a way out or gives us the peace to get through the situation knowing that He has a greater plan in it all.
One thing I want to do in my life is remember all God has done and praise Him through the good times and the bad. I don’t want to wait until I am in a tough situation to look to God. I want to look to God every day and see His beauty and might in everything. I am writing a book of letters to God to help me remember what He has done and continues to do in my life and to pour out my heart to Him. The following is an excerpt from my book:
I love the storms You bring, the thunder and lightning and heavy rain. I love Your might and power and I love knowing that You are in charge and You love me, so I never have to fear. Thank You for making me righteous by Your grace in Jesus’ death that redeemed me from my sins and made me new. It says in proverbs 10:25 “When the storm has swept by, the wicked are gone, but the righteous stand firm forever.” Thank You for making Ian and I stand firm. You have given us a strong foundation in You to make us firm and unshakeable. Thank You so much for our love and for this beautiful life You have given us. Thank You for giving me a heart that desires to know You, God. I cannot fathom the depths of Your being, but I love all that I know and I want to know You more every day. It’s amazing that the biggest things that I can see, like the sun and the ocean, are nothing compared to You. You made the entire universe and everything there is from the farthest outer reaches of infinity to the tiniest infinitely inward movement inside molecules and atoms and such. Incomprehensible and utterly magnificent You are. Teach me all You can and let me love You forever and walk by Your side. I love You and I thank You for life and for making me me. I want to be all You made me to be. I want You to be proud of me and to be able to say to me, “Well done, my good and faithful daughter.” Help me to live a life that glorifies You. Thank You God.
